Understanding that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give the club members of Dar es Salaam Oyster Bay visited the Salvation Army Orphanage Centre on Sunday 28th of October. The orphanage which is located in Kurasini, Dar es salaam houses and looks after more than 200 children, most of them being with special needs.

During the visit the club donated three wheelchairs, clothes, shoes, juices and bites for the children. These items were either donated in kind by club members or bought using funds raised from the members.

According to the patron of the orphanage, some of the children housed there were abandoned by their parents due to their special needs.

At the centre the children are given opportunities to study as well as trained so that they are able to achieve their dreams especially considering their special needs.

Club members were informed that there is still a need for more wheelchairs to be donated and the existing ones require refurbishment, as well as a need for sanitary pads, diapers and other essentials.

If you wish to donate any items please get in touch with the Service Projects chair (Kripa).
