In our recent club meeting we were visited by a team from Don Bosco Youth Training centre and we were delighted to hear of the program they have for the youth. This is surely something we are just getting our hands on but we are very excited that this is a project that may well go in line with the District’s Vijana Poa program.

The Don Bosco Youth Centres have a number of training facilities in Tanzania, and in Dar es Salaam it has three facilities. Services are offered to youth as well as to children. Their facilities promote sports, education and employment through sports trainings, a well stocked library and very subsidized entrepreneurial trainings.

The youth who are offered entrepreneurial trainings proceed into the centre’s job placement department where the centre for the past couple of years have managed to secure jobs to at least 70% of students who graduate from the centre. The centre has also started a database dating back to 2008, keeping track of where all their graduates are. We salute Don Bosco for doing a great job in promoting youth employability and self-employment.
